Take 2: Juniors Round 2

Footy is back! After the washout round last weekend, Round 2 kicks off 13 and 14 April for our Junior teams (U9 up) followed by Auskick on 4 May. The weather is looking good, we are super excited and looking forward to seeing the kids back on the ground, having fun and making memories.

Helping out on Game Day

All families have the opportunity to help out on game day in roles including canteen, BBQ, ground manager and goal umpiring as allocated by your team manager. The more families that put their hand up, the easier it is for everyone. For more information, please see our website.

Season Draw

The AFL Sydney Juniors fixtures for Season 2024 up until Round 5 are now live on PlayHQ here.

The draw can also be found on the free “PlayAFL” app on iOS and Android so you can check fixtures, ladders, results and stats for community footy. Search “Play AFL” in your preferred app store.

Wet Weather

If a game needs to be postponed due to ground closures, your team manager or coach will let you know as soon as possible.

Registrations

If you haven’t yet registered your child for the 2024 Season, note that for insurance purposes, all players must be registered before taking the field this weekend.

Team Communications

All of our teams have their own WhatsApp group in our Wests WhatsApp Community. If you aren’t a member, please reach out to us and we will connect you with your coach and team manager so you can join the group.

Code of Conduct and 2024 Rules

A friendly reminder that all officials, players and parents to abide by the AFL code of conduct and demonstrate the values of fair play and respect. You can find more information on rules and guidelines on the Sydney Juniors website here including a handy quick reference guide.

Uniform and mouthguards

Talk to your coach and manager if haven’t yet received your jersey, shorts and socks so it can be organised for you prior to the first game. Please also remember that mouthguards are compulsory for U9s and up.

Additional players are needed in our Auskick, U10, U11, U13 Girls, U15 Boys and U17 Girls teams.

We all know that footy is better with friends so please put the call out to any families you know to encourage them to give AFL a try at Wests. The added bonus…if your friend joins the club, you will receive $50 at the end of the season.
If you can put up a flyer at your school or on a community noticeboard or distribute some flyers to one of your child’s other sports teams or clubs, please pick some up at Wagener or reach out to the committee.

Volunteering for the Wests Committee

We are always on the lookout for help on the Wests Committee and new faces are very welcome. We are currently looking for an Auskick Coordinator and First Aid Coordinator both vital roles at the club. If you are interested, please contact us

A visit from the Giants & U10s on the SCG

Our Come and Try Day was a great success with Giants stars Toby Green, Brent Daniels and Leek Aleer running clinics and signing autographs. A couple of lucky players won a free Giants jersey too! Thank you to AFL Sydney Juniors for organising and Nat Sports Media for the fantastic photos that capture the fun and the joy on the kids' faces as they meet their heroes!

Our U10 legends had the opportunity play on the SCG at half-time in the Swans vs Essendon game. What an experience!
